Hello
I am trying to access media on my smart TV which is on Guest VLAN from my windows PC which is on the secure LAN VLAN.
The Guest VLAN only has forward to WAN and output accept in the firewall.
First I tried to configure DLNA with Avahi reflector but couldn't get it to work.
Then I thought maybe SMB could help, but after configuring a traffic rule for ports 445 and 139 forward from Guest to LAN, it didn't work. Looks like Windows blocks SMB from different subnets.
What other secure options do I have?
The router is on OpenWRT 23.05, PC running Windows 11 and the smart TV is running android TV with Kodi.
It does, but this is something you can easily allow.
It seems to me that the problem is that you are not sure what access is needed. At first you mention avahi, dlna, then samba. You need to define what needs to be allowed from tv to pc.
If I allow SMB from any subnet won't it be accessible from the internet over IPv6?
And I mention Ahavi because, from my research, it's required to forward the multicast packets used by DLNA across different subnets.
I mentioned both because that is what I tried so far and didn't work. I was hoping someone could point me towards a better solution.
