81.0.124.218 (archive.openwrt.org) Connection refused

Hello,

we've noticed that some devices running Caos Calmer 15.05 have a software malfunction, due to dependencies that cannot be dowloaded from OpenWRT repositories. The error from opkg is that the repositories cannot be verified; we got the following error:

Tue Nov 15 20:56:07 2016 daemon.emerg procd: Downloading http://downloads.openwrt.org/chaos_calmer/15.05/ar71xx/generic/packages/routing/Packages.gz.Tue Nov 15

We believe that this is happening due verification files that are hosted on 81.0.124.218 (which appearently is archive.openwrt.org) which cannot be downloaded since it refuses any conection:

Tue Nov 15 20:56:00 2016 daemon.emerg procd: wget: can't connect to remote host (81.0.124.218): Connection refused

We need to keep our OpenWRT devices running, so; is there any other mirror for these repositories? Is there any estimate on how long will it take for the repositories to be online again? Would an update be recommendable?

There have been several other reports of problems with the archive.openwrt.org servers today.

Even if the archive were up for you, Chaos Calmer hasn't been updated for years and there likely wouldn't be anything "new" there to update to. As Chaos Calmer, by virtue of its age (over three years now), has several well-known security vulnerabilities in its kernel, application software, and 802.11 protocols, upgrading to 18.06 would be highly recommended.
