802.11s mesh network - terrible speed

Hello. I want to configure 802.11s mesh network using Linksys EA8300 as main router and TP-LINK TL-WR840n v4 as secondary mesh point. Both devices are running OpenWRT 21.02.
I've used this video as step-by-step manual, except i'm using 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
Technically I get it working, but speed is terrible - less then 1 Mbit/s at speedtest.com when both routers are near each other and PC is connected to secondary router with cable. I've tried to disable encryption for mesh-network, but it didn't help at all.
Can anybody help me to resolve this problem?

The mesh nodes should be at least 10-20 feet apart and broadcasting at half power or less for a rssi of -40db to -50db. If you transmit at full power 2ft apart it will distort and you will get bad throughput.
