my 5GHz WIFI keep dropping out on my re200 running openwrt with mostly default settings
all devices dissconnect and struggle to reconnect

Start by posting dmesg.

Sorry, I am new to openwrt, how exactly?

kernel log in the status menu.

or ssh to it, end type dmesg once logged in.

could this be because I was using WPA3 because switching to WPA2 seems to have fixed it

edit: it is taking a minute for devices to reconnect still and the dropping out still seems to be happening

RE200 (v2) is one of the devices that has a serious issue with 5GHz Wi-Fi in any of the currentl builds (stable and snapshots). It is a problem of the Wifi driver (mt76) and how it manages the configuration of Tx power of this and some other devices.

The bad news is that so far there is no known workaround other than using 2.4GHz only.

The good news is that this issue is being actively discussed and perhaps sometime in the future there will be a solution for this issue.

More details at https://github.com/openwrt/mt76/issues/633

its re200 v4 if you read the log

Which has the same 5Ghz Wifi chipset (MT7610) as the v2 causing Tx issues:

Sort of unrelated
But does the TP-Link re305 work any better

also my re200 seems to be working better after deleting the ssid and adding it again
my issue is not that the tx power is not working but definitely reduced

but I am only using the re200 for testing, with plans to run this 24/7 on my re305 if it works properly
