5 GHz band always busy (24.10.5)

Hi everyone,

Running a wireless scan on 5 Ghz. band (in luci or cli) is always busy, showing no results.
Devices can connect with no issues... but no info about my neighbours channels.

root@DAP2610:~# ubus call system board

        "hostname": "DAP2610",

}
root@DAP2610:~#
root@DAP2610:~# opkg list-installed | grep -i ath10

kmod-ath10k-ct - 6.6.119.2024.07.30~ac71b14d-r2
root@DAP2610:~#

No matter what I do (reboot, shutdown and wait, disable/enable interface....) always same result.
In 2.4 Ghz band, no issues about, only in 5 Ghz.

Anyone in the same way?

Thanks,

run logread -f via ssh.
click scan button

have you by any chance updated any packages ?

Perhaps try the non CT firmware

No wifi log:

"have you by any chance updated any packages ?"

No, default packages...

I'll try it again (I tested with 25.12.XX), the result was the same as CT.

Whic+ of 2 wireless scans you are running? Both require country set.

Interface scanning:

2.4 Ghz. - Working
5 Ghz. - Not Working

Both interfaces same country set

If I run 2.4 Ghz. I get info about my interface + neighbours channels.
If I run 5 Ghz. I only get my interface channel.. nothing else.

Interface 5 Ghz.

Being client (STA) or monitor effectively prevents channel switch.

Please connect to your OpenWrt device using ssh and copy the output of the following commands and post it here using the "Preformatted text </> " button (red circle; this works best in the 'Markdown' composer view in the blue oval):

Try two scans in the luci-

  • Status/Channel Analysis
  • Network/Wireless/scan next to 5ghz radio.

Your setup looks perfectly fine. Wave1 ath10k had fake "background scan" that AP was blinking while you scan, but yours is wave2 and should have no problems.

Can you verify that you have mainline linux driver + firmware (default were -ct)?

opkg update
opkg remove ath10k-firmware-qca4019-ct kmod-ath10k-ct
opkg install ath10k-firmware-qca4019 kmod-ath10k

Yes I raised a topic about this last July. A few others responded with similar…..

@anon63541380 @Jaidee

I have "downgraded" to 23.05.5 (same config - also ct driver), now scan works in 2.4 GHz. and 5 GHz. band.

Something is "buggy" in 24.10.XX (at least for my device)

If you change the driver and reboot?

In 24.10.5, not working, the same at CT driver.

EDIT: In 25.12-rc4... the same as 24.10.5
Usually before posting a problem.... I try to solve by myself changing configs/firmware versions.

I'll stay in 23.05.XX, is not a problem in my case.

Well, depends on the device and wifi chip config - some need one or another driver to work at all, or to set up the mesh etc.

New info about (in 24.10.5/23.05.6)

My Country is set to ES in both radios, no US in any config file.

Any idea??

Thanks,

Because of ath10k driver.
Use iw phy to get real channel map

Then... what is iw reg get command for?

In iw phy command I can't see nothing related to country zone (maybe a need a new pair of glasses  )

Result of scanning:

Around my area, scanning with my laptop/mobile I find many 5 Ghz. SSIDs.
No matter if I put 'auto' in channel selection or a fixed channel, always same result.
