I'm currently using my openWRT One chained to a bridged huawei 4G router. I would like to replace that with a modem that i can connect directly with the OpenWRT One. Are there any open 4G/5G modems, which work with the OpenWRT One? Thanks.
You have a Mikrobus Socket on the OO. Might be worth a look https://www.mikroe.com/search?search_query=4G+or+5G+modem+module
Do these need to connect to an external antenna? Also is there anything else needed to be connected apart from mikrobus (and the usim i guess)?
If you look at the link I posted, you would see clearly the first page shows most if not all have either threaded connections or onboard connectors for a wired connection for an antenna. It’s up to you to see what options Mikroe offers toward your use case.
Beyond that, I can’t really help on this particular application. It was just an option you might have overlooked.
Edit: A couple of other forum links for the OO.
