[24.10.rc7] cannot recognize an USB dongle with rtl8821au

Hello,

Using 24.10.rc7 on OpenWrt One, Buffalo WI-U2-433DHP (USB2) - rtl8821au is not recognized. The dongle works fine with a Windows11 machine. On Luci, it is shown as "Generic Unkown". kmod-rtw88, kmod-rtw88-88xa and kmod-rtw88-usb have been installed. A powered USB hub is used. Any suggestions?

Your device is rtl, not rtw. Try installing the rtl firmware.

Thanks. Installed it, but still I see "Generic Unknown".

this is from lsusb
"Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0411:029b Realtek 802.11ac WLAN Adapter"
so product id is 0x029b

probably not backported from 6.13+, and not supported by rtw88.
you should upgrade to 24.10 stable, no matter what, but it won't help you here.
