24.10.1 usb tethering eth.2 changed to usb0?

Can it be that with the upgrade to 24.10.1 an attached usb tethering phone changed interfaces?

When I set up USB tethering under 24.10.0 the phone was registered as eth.2 interface. However after the upgrade to 24.10.1 usb tethering did not work anymore until I figured out the eth.2 interface did not exist anymore. Apparently it had changed to usb0.....

I posted a little about this in the 24.10 release announcement thread as well but it would be good to get some developers to weigh in on if this is something that should be addressed or just carry on as normal.
