21.02 / snapshot OpenWrt

What's the difference between 21.02 versions and snapshots? Where i can download 21.02?

21.02 will be the next stable release. It has already branched off the master (a month ago), but there are no official 21.02 releases yet.

Will we get any 21.02 snapshots for the ramips targets? I'm running an EdgeRouter X and would love to test it out.

Yes. You can see the 21.02 target images buildbot here:

(and packages: https://buildbot.openwrt.org/openwrt-21.02/packages/#/builders )

Thanks. I'm running the latest stable OpenWrt 19.07.7 on my EdgeRouter X and it seems that you can't upgrade using the sysupgrade.bin. Is this a bug and if yes, where should i report it?

My commands:

wget https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/21.02-SNAPSHOT/targets/ramips/mt7621/openwrt-21.02-snapshot-r15893
-f82e7e96a0-ramips-mt7621-ubnt_edgerouter-x-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin -P /tmp

sysupgrade -v /tmp/openwrt-21.02-snapshot-r15893-f82e7e96a0-ramips-mt7621-ubnt_edgerouter-x-squashfs-sysupgrad
e.bin

The error message:

Device ubnt-erx not supported by this image
Supported devices: ubnt,edgerouter-x ubnt-erx ubiquiti, edgerouterx - Image version mismatch: image 1.1, device 1.0. Please wipe config during upgrade (force required) or reinstall. Reason: Config cannot be migrated from swconfig to DSA
Image check failed.

Why you think it would be a bug, when it gives you clear advice about the reason:

Image version mismatch: image 1.1, device 1.0. Please wipe config during upgrade (force required) or reinstall. Reason: Config cannot be migrated from swconfig to DSA

Some targets have already changes the hardware switch config system from the old swconfig to new DSA approach, and that requires doing the network config from scratch. Your router seems to belong to this group.

You need to use the force option with sysupgrade, and make sure that the "keep settings" checkbox is not enabled. (or use the sysupgrade console command with "-F -n" options)
