Re-purpose it.
Buy a more capable device.
Reload factory firmware.
Start over.
Reset.

The issue isn't really solved but It's solved in my house. The router in question is collecting dust and I've gone back to an older router.
I see that there is a new version of the OpenWRT for my router I'll give that a shot and report back.
FYI. I've the same issue, have you found anything useful? Thanks!
I did upgrade and it seemed to stay up longer, but i didn't have my laptop set up to do the ping test to actually test if it stays up.
