19.07.0 Raidsonic nas ib-4220 eth driver error

Hi.

I have installed 19.07.0 on my nas 4220.
This build is actually installing fine, the filesize issue of the hddapp.tgz was fixed int this release.
However, when I start to generate trafic, especially over samba, I get this in the serial console:

root@nas4220:/# [ 211.284791] gmac-gemini 60000000.ethernet: could not find mag
[ 211.321683] gmac-gemini 60000000.ethernet: could not find mapping
[ 211.358345] gmac-gemini 60000000.ethernet: could not find mapping
[ 211.394969] gmac-gemini 60000000.ethernet: could not find mapping
[ 211.431589] gmac-gemini 60000000.ethernet: could not find mapping
[ 211.480735] gmac-gemini 60000000.ethernet: could not find mapping
...

Then transfer speed is getting very slow and nearly unresponsive.

Hi there,

I also ran into this issue with 19.07.01 on IB NAS4220-B.
Can you answer the following questions:

  • Is your Samba share on a harddisk, SSD?
  • How do you access the share? (mount it with cifs or use another SMB integration)

Can you further:

  • reboot the NAS and JUST DOWNLOAD (maybe 100GB data) files and see if this message appears?
  • reboot the NAS and JUST UPLOAD (maybe 100GB data) files and see if this message appears?

Greetings,
Henne

P.S. Do your USB-Ports work with your installed release?

Hi Henne, I ust recogneize we are about to have the same challenge. Are U user or also developer? Please answer me! I am working on the actual Kernel for gemini.

Hi. The smb shares are on 2x2.5inch spinning hard disks, different brands/model/sizes, running basic ext4, no raid.
The shares were configured using the luci disk plugin. There is a config with the disks somewhere in /etc/config/ with /dev/sda1 and /dev/sdb1, mounted to /mnt/sda1 and /mnt/sdb1. The smb config shares those 2 mount points.
Uploading or downloading after a clean reboot does not change anything. As soon as I start to pull/push some data to the disks, it will kick in right away.

The front usb works; not the rear one.
best version for the 4220 is smartsmurf's at https://github.com/Smartsmurf/openwrt-ib4220/releases
but it is not perfect either, many packages dont work for it.
