160 mhz not working on wds client

i have two openwrt routers, 1 acting as main router and the other acting as wds client ap. on my main router 160 mhz channel is working as i can see from luci as well as from my laptop. but the wds link between both ap are only at 80 mhz, i have checked the regdb which are same on both routers. country setting is the same. channels are the same, and the width is also the same. i don't understand why they can't connect to each other at 160 mhz width. any idea what could be the reason?

router= openwrt installed on linksys ea7500 v2

In order to clarify, give brands, models and versions used on each devices.

its linksys 7500 v2 running OpenWrt 22.03.6 r20265-f85a79bcb4 on main router, and the wds client side is running OpenWrt 23.05.2 r23630-842932a63d. the country setting is AUS, and both are on channel 36 160 Mhz.

According to this Australia only allows channel widths up to 40.
